Barefoot College

Awarded and recognized over the last 40 years, winner of the 2013 Clinton Global Citizen Award, listed in the top 15 of the most influential international organisation, the Barefoot College has empowered communities of over 7,500 indigenous people including Mayas, Ixiles, Naso, N’gobe, Wayuu, Qechua, Huaves, Mosetenes and Aches by training mothers and grandmothers to become solar engineers and solar electrify their communities. Overall the Barefoot College has solar electrified more than 1000 communities in 72 countries.

The main college is based in Rajatshan, village of Tilonia.
